Hey friends! The first day of school is always such a big deal in our house—fresh school supplies, cute outfits, and of course, all the pictures! If you’re like me, you want those first (and last) day photos to look extra special without spending hours crafting. Well, I’ve got you covered!

Today, I’m sharing 15 FREE printable flags for Pre-K through 12th grade, PLUS a couple of bonus designs that say “Back to School” and “First Day of School.” These flags are perfect for photo props, classroom decor, or even as a fun little craft to do with your kids before school starts.

White Cardstock – Shop my favorite here on Amazon
Printer – Any color printer works great!
Wooden Dowels or Paper Straws – These dowels are perfect!
Scissors – This is my go-to pair
Hot Glue or Tape – Everyone’s favorite glue gun!

How to Make Your School Flags:

Step 1: Download Your Free Printables

Click the pink download button at the end of this post, to grab your FREE set of 15 printable flags. Each PDF comes with two flags per page for easy printing. You’ll get every grade from Pre-K all the way through 12th grade, plus bonus “Back to School” and “First Day of School” flags.

Step 2: Print on Cardstock

I highly recommend using white cardstock so your flags are sturdy and photo-ready. Change the printer setting to matte paper and high quality print for best results.

Step 3: Cut Out Each Flag

Grab your scissors and cut along the outline of each flag shape.

Step 4: Attach to Wooden Dowel

Add a little glue or tape to the back edge, then wrap your flag around a wooden dowel or sturdy straw, along the dash line. Press firmly to secure.

Step 5: Add Ribbon for Extra Cuteness

Tie a small bow or knot with your 3/8″ ribbon right under the flag. Match flag colors or school colors for an adorable detail!
