Hello everyone! I’m going to show you how to use these unique custom care instruction labels with your Cricut, using the print and cut feature! These are great for standard to-go cups, mason jars and acrylic tumblers.

Whether you run a small business or making a custom tumbler for a friend, it is always a great idea to include cup care instructions with your tumbler. I used to verbally let people know how to care for there vinyl cups but can easily be forgotten.  That beautiful tumbler ruined, Eeekkk!

These Care Instruction Labels seem to be effective when a person receives their one-of-a-kind tumbler! Gives a professional look to your handmade item.

So let’s start creating!

Here are a list of supplies I used for this tutorial:

To use the print and cut feature working with a JPEG or PNG is ideal.

1. Upload your desired PNG or JPEG file.

2. For a PNG with no colored background, select “Simple” image. For a Jpeg with a white background select “Moderately complex” image. For a  JPEG with many color in the background select “Complex” image. Then hit the green continue button.

3. Zoom out so you can see the whole image. (Use the small minus magnified glass on the right of screen). If you have a PNG file, there is no need to clean up file, just click the green continue button.

With a JPEG file you need to use the magic wand tool on the left top. Click in the background area that you do not want. The magic wand works by erasing a single color at a time. Once background is removed click continue.

4. Save as a Print and Cut Image. then click SAVE.

5.  Import your file into the canvas. Notice the “Linetype” says CUT and the “Fill” says PRINT and there is only one layer in the left panel. This is how it should look.

6. To personalize with your logo or text. Import the file or write out the text.

To leave as is, more on to step #8.

Re-size your logo to fit on top of the label.

7.  Lay logo over the label, then select all layers and click “Flatten.”

8. Now we must re-size it to fit perfectly top of the cup’s lid. Select the label, make sure the Lock Icon is on LOCK (this will keep it proportioned on all sides), change the “W” (width) size only, to 3.25 inches. In “Size” section, in the tool bar at the top. (where red box is drawn above).

Print and Cut’s Max print area is 9.25×6.75 inches. You may copy and paste to make 4 labels to one 8.5×11 page.

Now we are ready to “Make It”

9. Send image to the printer, then select the correct printer. (For this Label you do not need a bleed since the label is white and you will not see the cut line since it is white on top of white) I assure it is there and it will cut.

For an image that is printing in a color, I recommend a bleed. It will make the lines to be cut look blurry but this is fine because it will be cut off.

If you like select “Use System Dialog” to get a pop-up on your printer settings, you can select a high quality setting to print your image. Then hit PRINT.

(It will print with a black box around the print and cut area)

10. Place your printed image along the outer guide lines of your mat. (Tip: align straight for a perfect cut).

Feed into your machine and cut on “cardstock +”

There will be a light to read your black box registration mark, then it will cut.
