Looking for a festive and budget-friendly way to package your holiday gifts? This DIY Gingerbread House gift bag is the perfect project! With just a blank paper bag from Dollar Tree and a white paint marker, you can transform a simple bag into an adorable gingerbread house that’s sure to spread holiday cheer.
Whether you’re filling it with cookies, small gifts, or homemade treats, this easy and affordable craft is a creative way to make your presents extra special. And with my free PDF for drawing reference, you’ll be sure to create gingerbread house doodles with ease.
Dollar Tree has a selection of sizes of brown gift bags, I grabbed 3 popular sizes that they had and created a doodle drawing PDF for reference. This is just to give you inspiration on what to draw when creating your gingerbread house doodle. You can download that at the end of this post by clicking the pink download button. Make sure you are logged in to your free account first.
With a brown bag flat, using a white paint maker, doodle on the front of the bag a gingerbread house design. Allow time to dry before touching to avoid smearing.
To create a roof shaped on the top of one bag, while it is still closed flat, use scissors to cut the corners of the bag off at an angle. You may reference my printable PDF for cut line as well.
For the bags that have cut edges, you can fold over the side flaps in and tape them down. Or you can simply cut them off with scissors.
To make your bags more festive, use Christmas ribbons to make a bow. These also pair great with my Free Printable Gingerbread Man Gift Tags! Nothing says Merry Christmas like a creative touch of something handmade!
