- Hot glue gun & glue sticks
- Scissors
- Utility knife
- Black permanent marker

- Weeding tool
- Double-sided foam tape
How to Make a DIY BBQ Grill Gift Basket
1. Prep Your Bowls
- Remove all stickers and clean the bowls.
- Place the cooling rack on one bowl, trace the edges with a marker, and mark where you’ll cut the wires.
2. Cut the Cooling Rack
- Use wire cutters (or garden shears) to snip the inner thin wires.
- For thicker wires around the edge or in the center, wiggle back and forth until they snap.
3. Fit the Rack Into the Bowl
- Trim for a snug fit. It should sit securely inside the top bowl like a grill.
4. Attach the Bowls Together
- Use a weeding tool to poke aligned holes in both bowls.
- String zip ties through and connect them. Don’t overtighten—you want the grill to open and close like a clamshell.
5. Add the Top Handle
- Hot glue the hardware handle in the center of the top bowl (the “lid”).
6. Create the Wooden Stand
- Use a hot glue gun to attach three wooden dowels or brush handles to the round base.
- Space them evenly in a triangle and glue them at a slight angle for stability.
- Let them dry completely before continuing.
7. Customize with Free Printables
- Download and print the free grill label, banner and BBQ foods.
- Cut and glue your family photo inside the grill (about 6.5″ to 8″ wide).
- Attach the banner underneath the photo.
Optional: Add the Flame Reveal
Warning: Open flames should always be handled responsibly. Never leave fire unattended. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby.
- Cut a piece of gray tissue paper to fit the lid.
- Apply hot glue in small sections around the rim and gently attach the paper.
- Trim excess tissue paper for a clean edge.
Final Tips For Dollar Tree DIY Grill
- Use ribbon to connect the inside of the grill to the lid to prevent it from falling backward.
- Add foam tape to the bottom of your photo or label and stick it inside the grill.
- Attach the jar lid with hot glue to the front and stick the “Grill Master” label on top.
- Fill the grill with Dad’s favorite treats, candy, tools, or even gift cards!
