What is a SVG file

Download and Prepare the SVG Template

  1. Download the free SVG template.
  2. Unzip the folder to access the files. Inside, youโ€™ll find the sports spinner SVG files and card template.
  3. Open Cricut Design Space and upload the SVG file for the card base. Ensure the dimensions are correct (10 inches by 7 inches).
  4. Ungroup the elements and change the center cut line to a score line. Attach the score line to the card base.

Design and Customize Your Spinner Card

  1. Upload your chosen sports spinner PNG file (e.g., baseball, basketball, football) to Cricut Design Space.
  2. Resize the spinner image to 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches.
  3. Duplicate the spinner image so you have two identical images.
  4. Add personalized text to your card. For example, write “ALLSTAR” and curve it to fit your banner. Place “DAD” at the bottom of the card.
  5. Ensure all text is attached to cut out as a single piece.

Print and Cut

  1. Send your print and cut designs to the printer. Enable the bleed option and use the system dialog to print at high quality.
  2. Once printed, place the cardstock on your cutting mat and secure it with blue painterโ€™s tape.
  3. Cut out all the card elements using your Cricut machine.

Cardstock Hack

I have a neat cardstock hack for when you are using small pieces or cardstock words. Use this transfer tape to apply it to your card in one piece, instead of applying one by one.

  1. After cutting, remove the excess cardstock only.
  2. Leave the cardstock on the mat, and apply transfer tape over.
  3. Flip the mat over and bend the mat back to remove.
  4. Set transfer tape aside until needed.

Assemble the Spinner Card

  1. Cut a piece of sewing thread about 6 inches long.
  2. Use double-sided tape to attach the thread to the center of the cardโ€™s spinner window.
  3. Attach one spinner image face down in the window and place double-sided tape on the back. Lay the thread over the spinner and secure it.
  4. Glue the second spinner image on top, sandwiching the thread between the two images.
  5. Pull the thread tight and secure it at the bottom of the window with double-sided tape.
  6. Cover the thread with the red cardstock window and let it dry.
