How to make a Luau Paper Lantern

Below you will find my Luau Lantern Free SVG, along with step by step instructions. My Cricut paper lantern is perfect for Luau parties, with a tiki face and topical flowers. An easy inexpensive centerpiece, that you can create in many colors.

Luau Lantern Supplies

• Cricut Explore Air 2
• Light Grip or Standard Grip Mat
• Fine Point Blade
• Cricut Scoring Stylus
• Cricut Tools
• Cardstock 65lb 8.5×11 (2 sheets)
• Vellum Paper (2 sheets)
• Bearly Art Glue
• Free Luau Lantern SVG (end of post)

Design Space Instructions

Download my Free Luau Lantern SVG file at the bottom of my post using the pink download button. Once you have my zip folder downloaded, right-click on folder and extract all files.

The SVG file may display as a internet HTML document, you are on a windows pc computer.

Upload the SVG file to Cricut Design Space. Make sure the height of the SVG is 8 inches tall.

Next, ungroup the luau lantern SVG.

Select the 2 cut lines from the right hand panel. Under operations, change them to score lines. Then, attach them to the lantern.

Select all layers and click duplicate. This will create other half of the paper lantern. Change any colors necessary.

Assemble Paper Lantern

Next, cut all layers on appropriate settings. Make sure to load your scoring tool into the A-clamp.

Remove the cardstock from the mat, making sure not to curl or tear any pieces.

Once you have all the layers cut out, place glue on the back of one side of the lantern. Also place glue around the edges of the vellum. Repeat the same steps for each sides of the lantern.

Use a straight edge to fold over each score line.

Apply glue to the tab on the right side and piece both sides together.

Fold the sides over to make a box, using glue to hold it together.
