Hi everyone! I hope you are all doing great! I finally put together a little tutorial on how to make my hair bows templates! Now you can see how I put these cuties together! If you haven’t tried to make these yet, today is the prefect day to start!
Below is an image of all the hair bow templates I have for FREE for you to try! My free SVG/templates can be made by your Cricut Machine or you can print out the PDF template and cut by hand. Today I will be using my Cricut to make these! Find all the free templates at the end of this post!
List of Supplies:
- Cricut Explore Air 2 or Maker (I used my Explore Air 2)
- Free Hair Bow Templates
- Material (faux leather, glitter canvas, thin leather, pattern canvas, felt, foam sheets, card stock etc.)
- glue gun & glue sticks
- hair bow clips
- scissors
I tried out this Leather Earring Making Kit from Amazon. Comes with 24 6.5″x8″ leather/canvas sheets. and bunch of earring hardware you can use to make earrings to match your bows, but that will be another tutorial! Please note: for my Large Standard Bow will need a 9.5″ long piece.
Now that you know what you need, choose which template you would like to make. Once you download it, upzip folder, extract all files and save to a new location. Make sure to upload the SVG file type to Cricut Design Space. This will keep it the right size and have layers to work with.
Next you can change the colors to match your project!
Click “Make It” and arrange your bow pieces if needed.
Set your dial to Custom > Genuine Leather. I used this setting for all the material in the Bundle Kit with a Fine Point Blade. But for the Leopard sheets I used a deep cut blade with a Strong grip mat. Please use which ever setting works for you!
Next, lift material off the mat. If some piece are still attached or if you have strays, use scissors to cut off. Tips: Cut thick textured faux leather face down. (See image for reference). Pieces that are still attached should pop out when you tug on it. (Like the Butterfly Bow in image below).
Now that we have all our pieces cut, time to heat up the glue gun and assemble!

Hi, I have a Cricut explore and the project is too big. What size do you recommend to fix this for my Cricut explorer?
Hello, sorry for the late response. I made these with my Explore as well. They are ready to cut no need to resize with the .svg file type. Sounds like you might be uploading the .png image ?
