Hey Crafters, today I’m going to share how to make Valentine’s Day gifts for your child’s classroom using mini plush animals. This is a fun alternative than the traditional Valentine’s Day cards with candy. Most schools has a no sugar policy and most parents dread their kids coming home with tons of candy.
I created these fun Valentine’s Day gifts for my daughter’s classmates. I got a bag of 30 mini plush animals from Amazon and designed matching animal sayings tags. I will show you how to use the SVG file to make print then cut tags for each animal. I also include a printable PDF so you can choose to print and cut by hand, in my free download. This SVG design is apart of my Forever Free Files, which remains free forever! These tags are 1 inch in height but the SVG file can be resized by you to use on a bigger plush animal.
Here is a list of supplies:
- Cricut Machine (optional)
- Mini Plush Animals
- Free Animal Saying SVG
- Cardstock
- Printer
- scissors (optional)
- hole punch (optional)
- string/twine
In the free SVG download you will find 2 folders, it’s the same designs but one will come with holes and one without. I will be using the SVG file with holes, so I can make them into tags and hang with a string. Upload the SVG into design space, make sure it uploaded the correct size with is 7.041 width.
Next, we are going to ungroup the SVG and select each heart one and time and Flatten it. This will turn the design into a Print then Cut file.
After I flatten them all, I copy and paste to make 30 heart tags altogether. Remember you can change the colors, and copy & paste the sayings you want to use.
When you send it to the printer, make sure you have bleed on and use system dialog. Click on printer preferences and change your paper type and print quality to high.
After it prints, cut on Cardstock +, the Cricut Machine with read your registration lines and will cut out the shape.
Next, before you assemble, have your child write their name on the back.
Next cut your string 10 inches long and loop on the desired heart tag to the string and make a bow around the neck. This can be fun to have your child help you tie the tags on each plush animal.
I hope you enjoyed this super easy tutorial, and try it out for your child’s classmates! Download the free Valentine’s Day Animal Saying Tags below.
