Create a layered paper shamrock to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!

My download comes with the SVG file for your Cricut cutting machine.  I will show you how to upload the file to Design Space and how to layer this St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock!

You can resize my Layered Shamrock SVG in Design Space to fit your project! Create things like a St. Patrick’s Day banner, a fun layered greeting card or add to it a shadow box frame to make cute home decor!

 

Layered Shamrock Supplies:

Below you will find a list of supplies I used to create my paper layered shamrock.  However, you can also try it out with vinyl or HTV to add it a St. Patrick’s day cup or black t-shirt!

• Cricut Machine, or any cutting machine for die cuts.
• Stand or Light Grip Mat
• Cardstock 65lb, I use Recollection from Michael’s.
• Foam Tape, I use double sided foam tape or you can use Bearly Art Craft Glue.
• Cricut Scraper
• Blade/knife to cut foam tape into strips.
• Layered Shamrock SVG

 

Layered Shamrock Instructions

Once you have my Layered Shamrock SVG downloaded, unzip the folder and extract all files and save to the same location.

Open up Cricut Design Space and upload the SVG file type. If you on a Windows PC computer, the SVG file might display as an internet html doc.

 

The Shamrock SVG is sized at 4.5 inches in width. The perfect size if you would to fit it on the front of a 5×7 greeting card. You can resize it to fit your project by changing the width with the lock on.

Next, you can ungroup the SVG to select and move each layer. There are 4 layers in total, to create this layered shamrock. Change each color layer if needed.

 

Please refer to the picture below to know the order of each layer. With 1 being at the top and 4 being at the bottom.  Once you’re ready, you can cut on cardstock+.

 

When cutting cardstock, it helps to use a light grip mat or a dull standard grip mat.  When a mat is super sticky, it may rip or curl your cardstock. So to help this, I dull out my mat with a cloth if it’s too sticky. I also use blue painters tape to help hold my cardstock in place.

To remove it from the mat, I flip it over and bend back my mat and keep my cardstock pieces flat. This will help it from curling.

 

Next, I cut my foam tape into strips using my blade, so i can have them ready to go. I flip over my #3 layer and place my small foam tape strips on the back. Then I layer it over the #4 layer. Then I repeat the same steps for my #2 and #1 layers.
