Cricut Floral Heart Frame Video Tutorial
I love to create layered Cricut project out of cardstock, so I was thinking how cute would this look as a photo picture frame! The floral heart frame is sized at 8.6 inches by 7.11 inches. Although it may be too big for regular envelopes, they will fit in a 9×9 envelope, box or gift bag.
You can watch my video tutorial on how to make my Floral Heart Photo Frame craft project! But first I will list the supplies you need along with basic instructions on how to create this photo frame gift.
Cricut Photo Frame Supplies
Here is a list of supplies to create a Cricut photo frame for that special someone.
- Cricut Machine
- Standard Grip Mat
- Floral Heart Photo Frame SVG
- 65lb Cardstock 8.5×11
- Photo Paper
- Printer
- Foam Tape
- Bearly Art Craft Glue
- Scoring Stylus
- Cricut Scraper
- Blade
- Parchment Paper
- Matte Scotch Tape
For my cardstock selection, I used pink glitter and foil cardstock, and 2 sheets of red regular cardstock. As for the actual photo, I printed on glossy photo paper through Design Space. However, you can use a printed photo you already have, just cut out the gray square in the SVG file and trace it over your photo to get it the correct size for the frame. The photo size is 3.25×2.7 inches.
Cricut Design Space Instructions
Once you have my Floral Heart Frame SVG downloaded, make sure to unzip the folder. Upload the SVG file type to Cricut Design Space. If you are on a Windows PC the SVG file might display as an internet icon and html doc.
After you have it in Cricut Design Space, make sure it is the correct size of 15 inches in width with 7.11 in height. First, ungroup the SVG and change the double cut line layer to a score lines using the operations drop-down menu, then attach them to the shapes underneath. If desired, change the colors of each layer for a different theme.
Now you can upload a jpeg image of your special someone and save it as a print then cut file. Make sure to choose a complex image while saving. This help Design Space to keep all the details in your image.
Add the image to your canvas and slice the gray square over the top, then delete the scraps you don’t need. Now your ready to SAVE and CUT your project.
Cut Cardstock Layers
Send your print then cut layer to the printer, turn on bleed and use system dialog. Change your paper material to Phot Glossy Paper and print quality to High. After it’s done printing, lay matte tape over the registration marks. Then cut on Poster Board setting.
Finish cutting out your mats and make sure to cut on the appropriate setting for your material. Also, load the scoring stylus into the A-clap.
Assemble Layered Photo Frame
Once you have all the layers cut out, you can begin to assemble.
First thing I like to do before I start to assemble is precutting my foam strips. I use a cutting mat with parchment paper and lay out my foam tape and cut skinny strips of foam tape with my blade or x-acto knife.
Place the foam tape on back of the 2 top floral heart layers. Center them together and place them on top of each other.
Next, flip over the heart, grab the pocket sleeve and place craft glue along the sides and bottom with the u-shape at the top. Adhere that to the back of the frame cover the square cut out and let dry.
Next, fold over the score lines on the two stand pieces. Place glue on the long skinny tabs and place them at the bottom center of the heart. Have the tabs on the inside. Let it dry for 5 minutes before using.
Slide in your photo using the top slit in the back. Now your done with your cute Floral Heart Photo Frame! I really hope you guys really love this project and give it a try today!
