Paper Flowers Without a Cutting Machine
If you have a home printer you can start crafting these blooms today! Just use my printable Flower Template PDF file. I printed the PDF files straight onto the colored cardstock and cut them out with scissors.
Below is a list of basic steps to create paper flowers using the printable template. For full tutorial please watch my video tutorial.
- Print the Daisy flower template from the PDF onto colored cardstock.
- Cut out the shapes using scissors and xacto knife with ruler for the spiral center.
- Use dowel for curling petals.
- Use hot glue to overlap bottom slits.
- Glue 8 petal down on circle base using guide marks, place 8 more in the middle of each petal.
- Fold over the spiral center in half without creasing it.
- Roll together with glue.
- Place a good amount of hot glue to the center of the flower and place spiral center on top.
- Create a hanging base using a foam plate and floral wire.
- Attach the hanging base to the back of the flower using hot glue.
Paper Flowers with Cricut Machine
If you are an active Cricut user, creating paper flowers with your Cricut machine is one of the best ways to create flawless hanging wall decor!
Here is a list of basic steps to create paper flowers with your cutting machine. For full directions, please watch my video tutorial above!
- Open Cricut Design Space and upload the SVG file.
- Ensure the size is correct (10.5 inches in height), this for the small 14 inch and large 22 in daisy.
- Ungroup the elements into three groups: spiral center, petals, and circle base.
- Attach cut lines within each group.
- Duplicate the spiral center for 2 and petals to make 16.
- Load colored cardstock onto the mat and cut out the shapes.
- Curl the petals using a wooden dowel or marker.
- Assemble the flower by gluing the petals together onto the base using the guides.
- Finish by adding hot glue to the center of the flower to add the spiral center.
How to Hang Paper Flowers
Now that you have giant paper flowers, you will need a way to hang them on the wall! Using a paper plate and floral wire will do the trick!
I’m using a Styrofoam plate, but cardboard will work just the same.
- First, trace the circle base template onto a foam plate and cut it out.
- Poke 2 holes on the top half of the circle with wire
- Leave enough slack to hang, and tie the wire on the other side.
- Apply hot glue to the back and adhere to base of flower.
Now you can hang to make beautiful wall decor or use to decorate your next party event!
Congratulations! You’ve successfully created stunning Daisy paper flowers for your wall decor.
