Dollar Tree Ghost DIY Halloween Decorations

Welcome back for another Halloween craft! I created an affordable and easy way to make a Dollar Tree Ghost! This cute ghost is great for home decor and Halloween decorations. If you love Halloween decor, check out my Layered Mandala Ghost Sign!

I used 5 items from the Dollar Tree, however the ghost itself is only 3 items.ย  You can save more money on this craft if you already have black felt or black cardstock for the ghost eyes.ย  The other 2 Dollar Tree items are the ghost’s props, which are totally optional.ย  Check out my pink ghost edition, complete with a cute disco ball prop!

How to make a Dollar Tree Ghost

Unravel the hanging ghost decoration, use scissors to cut off the plastic ties on the arms and head of the Styrofoam.  Once the Styrofoam is removed, place the flat service on top of the paper towel holder.  Wrap the packing tape around the foam and the metal until its secure.  Place it higher or lower to create the height of your ghost.

I didn’t want to use the ghost face on the material, so I draped it over backwards, so the face was on the back, where the foam is flat.  Pinch the material together to hide the face on the material.  Use hot glue on the material to hold it in place.  Wrap the bottom material around the base to hide the metal base.

On the front, adjust the arms in place and drape the material over.  Cut out new ghost eyes with the black felt. and hot glue them to head.

I definitely wanted props for my cute ghosts, so I picked up some clip pumpkins and mini jack-o-lantern pumpkin buckets.  I just place them on the arms, so it can be removed later.

I went as far as spray painting a bucket pink and used a black marker to fill in the face.  This of course is totally optional! I plan on adding string fairy lights underneath, so they can light up at night!

  1. How did you do the arms? Not following if you attached something to the paper towel holder underneath or just pinched the fabric?
